Oregon man Gary Harrington was sentenced to 30 days in jail for illegally collecting rain water in Oregon. Harrington built ponds to collect rain water 37-years ago and says they’ve been used for fire protection. Harrington says he applied for permits to legally collect the water. The state Water Resources Department approved them, and then reversed its decision. CNS news also interviewed Harrington, who said if he loses in court, he will serve his time.
All we can really say about this is WOW! Oddly enough Oregon isn’t the only state that has this ridiculous law. Utah also has water collection laws as well.
