Hotels.com reveals it all from what puts couples in the mood, and that ideal celebrity dates are Jennifer Aniston and George Clooney 

Hotels.com® smells romance €“ or maybe scented candles €“ in the air as they release results from the 2012 Romance Survey. The survey found that many couples like to get away for Valentine€™s Day, and gleaned insights into their hotel rooms with some intimate findings. What do men and women think about Valentine€™s Day hanky-panky? Read on to find out!

When asked, €œWhat is a must-pack item for a romantic weekend?€ Lingerie came out on top €“ (64 percent females; 50 percent males.) The second item couples reach for is the camera (30 percent females; 36 percent males.) We€™ll leave it up to the imagination if they are used together. A few other questions include: How often do you and your partner make time for romance during vacation and where is the most romantic place for hanky panky in a hotel? The numbers below don€™t lie €“ somebody isn€™t telling the whole truth here:

Let€™s talk celebrities. When given a choice of three celebrity crushes, George Clooney is the clear winner amongst women and Jennifer Aniston inches past Halle Berry for the men.

But not all hope is lost! Many respondents wrote in a fourth option: their spouses. Passing over Hollywood A-listers for the ones they truly love €“ now that€™s romantic!

Contrary to the popular rumor that oysters are an aphrodisiac, they came in last on the list of foods that put respondents in the mood for romance.  Strawberries and dark chocolate tied for the most romance-inducing foods.

Don€™t let commercialism fool you €“ most sweethearts (44 percent females; 45 percent males) say that their ideal Valentine€™s Day gift is €œjust spending time together€ as opposed to any tangible gift items. However, jewelry creeps into second place with 32 percent of women and 26 percent of men responding a sparkly bauble is the ideal Valentine€™s Day gift.

€œThere€™s something romantic about being spontaneous,€ said Taylor L. Cole, APR, director of public relations and social media for hotels.com. €œTonight€™s Local Deals on our site and the hotels.com mobile apps, which feature exclusive mobile deals, allow couples to find an abundance of last minute travel deals and jolt romance into their winter by getting away, even if it is at a local cozy hotel.€

For those lovebirds who like to get away for the holiday, the hotels.com Valentine€™s Day Sale is an easy way to plan the perfect gift: spending time together plus wine and chocolate without breaking the bank. Guests staying two or more nights at any Valentine€™s Day Sale hotel, get a $25 credit toward wine and chocolate at Lot18, in addition to up to 30 percent off the hotel room.

So it’s February; supposedly the most romantic month of the year and of course the pressure is on. Either the pressure to find someone special to spend the day with or to impress the one you’ve already got. But what to do? If  you’ve seen Transformers: Dark Of The Moon you’ve seen JT Walsh in action. Remember the downtown Chicago glider suit intense scene? Well that was JT Walsh leading the pack. You didn’t really think the starring cast were doing that now did ya?

Walsh is a really mellow unassuming down to Earth kind of guy despite how much time he actually spends in the air. A couple of weeks ago I had the great pleasure of being in Lake Tahoe, well actually Incline Nevada to watch the taping of a commercial for Hotels.Com’s new Mobile App for iPod and Android phones.

The concept was based on a claymation commercial that Hotels.Com introduced where two characters are skydiving, and realize that they needed to still make hotel reservations. As the two claymation characters are falling one of them pulls out his phone and using the Hotels.Com app makes reservations and they land on a couple of lounge chairs outside their hotel.

Well the nice folks at Hotels.Com set out to; with the help of JT Walsh, and the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa & Casino do this for real. Walsh was to jump from a plane at 20,000 feet above lake Tahoe and steer himself to the LZ (Landing Zone) on the private beach of the Hyatt just outside of the Lone Eagle Grille where we were having lunch after our ballooning excursion. If you look closely you’ll actually see me in one of the images.

Notably you will see a photo with a plum of sand; well that was the camera operator who came in just a bit too hot! He was fine but it was almost a disaster as he almost crashed into the crowd of sunbathers and cabanas. I hope that you enjoy the images below.
