It’s Monday, and we want to help you get your day started off just right! Crank it up for the next 7 minutes as you put the finishing touches on your outfit and get ready to head out the door! Robin Skouteris brings us this Monday mashup of 24 artists that will get you into a great mood to face the day, and the week!

The video contains a slightly extended version of the mp3 Some things you should know about #PopLove: ♫ 24 different artists and some extra samples. ♫ Its not representing the biggest hits of the year necessarily based on charts. Its just a collection of recent pop hits that fitted together and worked well in my head. I was not trying to balance the artists either, i went with whatever structure felt right. It has songs mostly from 2012 and then some extras. The point was to make a single track that represents the pop scene of today. No rules.
♫ You can find the lyrics to sing along, here:
♫ If you like it, please share it around and subscribe for more mixes!

Saint Laurent recently revamped from the iconic Yves Saint Laurent to….Saint Laurent thanks to creative director Heidi Slimane. With a fashion house this iconic it was a daring decision and perhaps could have been a pitfall. However with a super power in the industry like (Yves) Saint Laurent they refuse to let simple things, such as a change in name, ruin a platinum reputation.

Enter Heidi Slimane. Iconic fashion & music photographer and mad genius. Add Courtney Love, Marilyn Manson, Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth and Ariel Pink of Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti. All as mad, strange and beautiful as the new house of Saint Laurent, and Heidi Slimane.

Create a campaign using all of the above rock icon’s from the ’90′s, and you have perfection with side of hardcore only Slimane is keyed into. And one beautiful campaign.

See the new faces of Saint Laurent below as captured by Heidi Slimane.

50 cent and Kendrick Lamar team up on a new club joint that, but the question is who comes correct on this track? I pick Kendrick Lamar!

Click the more link to view the video and read my thoughts.

As I listen to this, I can see this added to my playlist which it could work during some peak hour times. The beat has a nice little groove to it and could set a dance floor on fire! In summary, Kendrick Lamar does his thing on here and 50′s parts are not up to what you would expect from him. After really listening to this thing again I really wish 50 would have done more and not sound lazy on this.

Would I Play It? Yes

Club Worthy? Yes

30 years ago tonight, Michael Jackson reunited with his Brothers, and introduced the world to the Moonwalk! Recorded: “Pasadena Civic Auditorium” Pasadena, California (March 25, 1983). Broadcast by: “NBC” (May 16, 1983).

Michael reunited with his brothers Jackie, Marlon, Jermaine, and Tito on stage for the first time in eight years for a medley of their greatest hits, “I Want You Back,” “The Love You Save,” “Never Can Say Goodbye,” and “I’ll Be There.” Brother Randy, who was not a part of the original Jackson 5, but was a part of the later group The Jacksons (minus Jermaine), also joined the group for the melody. As the other members of the Jackson 5 left the stage, Michael transitioned dramatically into his own solo spot. Widely hailed as Michael’s breakthrough performance as a solo artist, he performed “Billie Jean”, which at the time was in the middle of a seven-week run atop the Billboard Hot 100 music charts.

Michael Jackson’s concert performances of “Billie Jean” in the years since Motown 25 were always formatted on his performance on this special, from the opening pose with the fedora to the moonwalk routine in the song’s bridge.

A VHS recording was released by MGM/UA Home Video on July 1, 1991.

In December of 2009, Motown announced plans for a 50th anniversary special. There have been speculations about a tribute to the Jackson 5 and Michael Jackson.

Oh well, times change, and with it, everything seems to be getting smaller and much more convenient. Don’t ya just hate that?

Those days are dead and gone. In fact we don’t know where you’d even find an old school boom box anymore; but I digress, we’ve got the JBL Charge here to remind us that the good ol’ days weren’t always good. For starters, the Charge’s sound quality will blow those old stereos out of the water.

Add to that the convenience of a Lithium-Ion battery that can play for 12 hours without needing a recharge, the ability to charge your mobile devices on-the-go through the machine’s USB, and wireless streaming audio from Bluetooth-enabled tablets and smartphones, and you’ve got a product that makes nostalgia seem highly overrated.

Back in the days when the “M” in MTV meant Music, and they played music videos rather than trashy reality shows these 10 songs were the defining tracks of an entire decade. That decade was the 90′s. We’ve gathered up 10 of our favorites from the 90s and are pretty sure you’ll remember them and probably agree that they’re also some of your favorites. Check out our countdown below and let us know which of these 10 are your favorites by leaving us a comment below! For now, let’s get it started!

#10 Ricky Martin – Livin’ La Vida Loca

“Livin’ La Vida Loca” was an international success for former member of one of the original boy bands “Menudo” Ricky Martin. Originally released in spanish this latin heartthrob made everyone want to get up and dance. Not only was this an international hit; the phrase “Livin’ La Vida Loca” became a common response to the how’re you doing question, and it taught a lot of people a few spanish words along the way.

#9 Digital underground – The Humpty Dance

Oakland based Hip-Hop group Digital Underground rose to fame with their hit “The Humpty Dance.” The group’s song had an unusual style and humor. “The Humpty Dance” was originally written for one of the assistants who was working in the studio the day of the big Oakland earthquake. Hence the “Limp to the side like your leg was broken.” verse. The group was also the launching platform for Tupac Shakur who was a member of the group.

#8 Kriss Kross – Jump

The Daddy Mack’ll make you … is forever seared into our brains thanks to the pop duo Kris Kross. This young act following in the footsteps of ABC (Another Bad Creation) had people wearing their clothes backward, pumped everyone up, and provided dance challenged people with an easy enough move to reprlicate!

#7 Jennifer Lopez – If You Had My Love

Coming off her top hit movie Selena Jennifer Lopez dropped this pop, hip-hop, latin flavored track that got us grooving back in the late 90′s. The video was very voyueristic in nature and was pretty much the precursor to today’s webcam network sites, with the exception of the use of dial up.

#6 Notorious B.I.G – Mo Money Mo Problems

The story of the Notorious B.I.G remains one of the biggest stories in the Hip-Hop world. From his rise from the streets to his untimely and tragic death Biggie Smalls had great lyrics and music riffs to get just about anyone out of their seats. Mo Money Mo Problems was no different. The song is considered one of the best in Hip-Hop because of it’s widespread fame.

#5 Goo Goo Dolls – Iris

John Rzeznik was approached to write a song for the City of Angels soundtrack, and the end product was “Iris”. This song propelled the band to stardom, as it stayed on top of Billboard Hot 100 Airplay charts for a record-breaking 18 weeks, and was nominated for three Grammys that year. This is the song which catapaulted to band to worldwide fame despite the title, the word ‘Iris’ is not heard in the lyrics.

#4 Nirvana – Lithium

I’m sure many of you remember your grundge days either from high school or just out of college. This song by Nirvana will take you back in time with topics like sex, friends, and beauty, this song had something for everyone to enjoy. You’re still enjoying it today aren’t you?

#3 TLC – Waterfalls

One of the greatest girl groups to ever perform since Diana Ross and the Supremes, TLC’s smooth girlish tone carried them through the 90′s. They showed their more grown up side with the release of their Crazy Sexy Cool album. The song “Waterfalls” absolutely blew up and admonished people to keep things in perspective and keep it real. This was the last performance the group did just prior to the tragic death of group member Left Eye.

#2 Warren G – Regulate

Capitalizing on the infamous line from Young Guns for it’s opening Warren G’s regulate came about as the suburban gangsta fad was sweeping the nation. Once this track dropped everyone suddenly knew where the LBC was and was partying it up there from the comfort of home! Thing is, this track is still a club favorite!

#1 Christina Aguilera – Genie In A Bottle

From mouse ears of the Mickey Mouse Club to chart topping Diva Christina Aguilera’s hit single from her self titled debut album made us all stand up and take notice. The song reached top 10 in every country it charted, and peaked at number one on U.S. Billboard Hot 100, as well as in Canada, Austria, Norway, Spain, Denmark, Belgium and the United Kingdom. It stayed for five consecutive weeks at the top of Billboard Hot 100. Critics positively reviewed “Genie in a Bottle”, calling it mature, clever and provocative. Aguilera’s vocal performance was also praised and critically acclaimed. The song—which was considered as a catchy anthem—itself became the biggest summer hit of 1999. The music video for “Genie in a Bottle” gained a lot of airplay on worldwide music channels, including MTV. The song is considered as one of Aguilera’s biggest hits.

Of course deserving of honorable mention are “Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice” and “M.C. Hammer’s Can’t touch this!”

There’s always the never-ending battle of who is the greatest lyricist or rapper of all time and CNN has voiced their opinion. Nasir Jones popularly known as Nas will turn 40 this year and this summer will mark his 22nd year as a entertainer.

“Let’s begin with a disclaimer: Nas doesn’t endorse the following sentence. But he’s the greatest lyricist of all time. Those words were carefully chosen: “lyricist” over “rapper” or “hip-hop artist;” “greatest” instead of “most successful;” “all time” rather than “today.”

With “Life is Good,” Nas dropped his ninth No. 1 hip-hop album since 1994. Seven of those have gone platinum, which places him second among rappers only to Jay-Z with 11. (We’re not counting compilations or collaborations here, only original solo efforts, and yes, Tupac Shakur had nine, but five were posthumous releases.)

And that, friends, is the crux of the debate: hot lines vs. hot songs. No one would deny Hova his dap, but it seems he has said, in both word and action, that it’s tough to top Nas.

Backwards clothes pioneers Chris “Mac Daddy” Kelly and Chris “Daddy Mac” Smith — better known to older Millennials as kid rap outfit Kris Kross — have announced plans to reunite, bringing us all perilously close to ’90s nostalgia singularity.

It’s been over two decades since the duo was discovered by an 18-year-old Jermaine Dupri at an Atlanta shopping mall and nearly just as long since they had their last chart-topping single (1995′s “Tonite’s tha Night“), but Kelly and Smith, now 32, figured that must mean they’re well past due for a comeback.

The reunited Kris Kross has only one tour stop scheduled so far: A 20th anniversary all-star concert in honor of Dupri’s record label, So So Def Recordings.

“Not only is it an honor to be able to stand here 20 years after our very first release in 1993, Xscape’s number one single Just Kickin It, but it’s truly an achievement that we can bring everyone back together to celebrate over two decades of music excellence,” Dupri told reporters.

Indeed, Kris Kross will be joined at Fox Theatre on February 23 by former labelmates Da Brat, Bow Wow, and Jagged Edge.

It remains to be seen if the concert compels Smith and Kelly to wrap up their long-delayed fourth album, which has been in production since the turn of the century.
