R U Faster Than a Redneck is back with an all-new episode tonight at 9pm on SPEED! This show pits American muscle against foreign imports. Comedian Jon Reep, and his redneck crew are ready to take on all challengers in this down-home derby to determine once and for all if domestic is better than imported.

On tonight’s episode, the rednecks bring a powerful lineup that includes a 1972 Dodge Charger, a 1967 Chevy Atomic Camaro, and 1967 Ford Bullitt Mustang. The imports are small but speedy as they bring a 200 Honda S2000 and a 2001 Audi Wagon.

You thought the Hatfields & McCoys hated each other? SPEED’s new series, R U Faster than a Redneck? takes on one of the longest- standing rivalries in automotive lore – domestic versus import. And if history is any indication, it could get ugly out there.

The first eight episodes have been ordered, and the show is set to premiere Feb. 22 at 10 p.m. ET, following live coverage of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race from Daytona before settling into its regular time slot, Mondays at 9 p.m. ET.

From the producers of American Trucker, Hot Rod TV, Overhaulin’ and Livin’ the Low Life, R U Faster than a Redneck? is hosted by Last Comic Standing Season 5 winner Jon Reep. The show’s unique format offers some of the country’s best grassroots import racers an opportunity to take on equally-timed, high-performance American muscle. The show is shot at Carolina Motor Sports Park in Kershaw, S.C., with legendary NASCAR play-by-play announcer Ken Squier calling all the action alongside Reep.

            “This program takes the stereotype of the classic Southern ‘redneck’ and turns it inside out,” said Robert Ecker, SPEED VP of Programming & Executive Producer. “These are multi-layered guys that hold their lifestyle near and dear, and that extends all the way to defending their beloved American muscle cars against all foreign makes and models. There’s a lot of fun and hijinks along the way, but once cars hit the track, the competition is real; everyone is in it to win it.”

At the core of the show is an almost timeless battle that has raged throughout the ages, affectionately referred to as ‘rednecks’ versus the ‘punks.’ In this format, the ‘redneck’ team puts up $10,000 against any import ‘punk’ that can defeat them and their souped-up vehicles.

“The concept goes all the way back to the early turn of the century in 1904, and an automotive event called the Vanderbilt Cup, which was (originally) held in Long Island, New York,” said Bud Brutsman, Executive Producer. “They put up money to see how the American car companies would stack up against their European counterparts. We’ve put together a similar competition.

“I am really proud to present the Evantra V8 .With her an enormous work is finished, that mainly focused on conciliating elements difficult to harmonize to each other: a personal concept that is absolutely out of todays market trends, a really precise and tipically italian stylistical identity and a powertrain with ” absolute” performance are perfectly united in forms and function. Evantra V8 was not born to please everyone, instead to be herself and to generate emotions with her character and exclusivity” – Luca Mazzanti

The Evantra’s “mechanical heart” is an aluminium V8, naturally aspirated 7.0 L. which is capable of developing 701 hp @ 6600 rpm and 848 Nm @ 4500 rpm. The engine has a compression ratio of 11.0, a dry sump lubrification system, and valves, connecting rods in titanium.

The performance of the Evantra V8 equipped with a 6-speed sequential gearbox arrives up to the maximum velocity of over 350 Km/h with an acceleration of 0-100 in 3.2 seconds. The aerodynamic development process was realized in partnership with YSIM, a company with notable experience in F1 and Le mans. SILA Holding Industriale, leader company of gearshift systems, has developed a special version of its robotized gearshift system “silatronic” for Mazzanti.

The power of the Evantra V8 is transferred onto the tarmac thanks to special high performance tyres from CONTINENTAL 255/30 R20 front and 305/25 R20 rear, mounted on special 20″ OZ alloy wheels. The braking system comes from BREMBO, formed by 380mm discs with 6 piston calipers in the front and 360mm discs with 4 piston caliper is the back (carbon-ceramic system is optional).

Inside, Mazzanti promises full luxury, with leather and carbon fiber trim available. Mazzanti likes to stress that almost every aspect of the car can be personalized, especially its interior. One key feature is the roof-mounted starter button, which is the same design found in the original Antas V8.

The tailor-made interior of the client is covered with all-natural leather prepared with special aniline leather treatment. The incredible soft touch of the leather is achieved thanks to a collaboration with a leader of the fashion/luxury sector. Every aspect of personalization is possible with the infinite options of special material, including exotic leather and precious materials.

The center console is equipped with a dash and data acquisition system from AIM and a Headunit (NAVI/CD/MP3) from BOSCH as first equipment. The engine starter button is placed onto the roof panel in “Mazzanti” style as in the “sister car” ANTAS. On the lower part of the console the modality selector is placed with different maps for the engine/gearbox, “Strada – Street” and “Corsa – Race”. On the NARDI steering wheel a small display shows the actual gear, while behind the paddles are placed.

We should be seeing its new sports car live for the first time at its debut at the 2013 Top Marques Monaco in April. We first caught wind of the Evantra V8 in early 2011, back when it was called the Mugello. Just when you got to thinking that there was just no more reality to do shows about we find out that the auto parts business is inherently frenzied. Its ultra-competitive, product can be hard to locate and customers are often less than forgiving. But for Joe Ferrer and his burgeoning family owned business, BS&F Auto Parts (http://www.bsandfautoparts.com/), an extra ingredient was needed €“ life in The Bronx.
Based on an award-winning New York Television Festival pilot, Hard Parts: South Bronx is national cable television network SPEED€™s intense new primetime television series that debuts with a Special Preview onSaturday May 19, immediately following this year€™s running of the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race from Charlotte Motor Speedway. Weekly episodes of the show can be seen every Thursday at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT premiering May 24.

So it really is that kind of incredible pace and energy, from the minute the store opens at 7 a.m. until it closes at 5 p.m. It is a challenge to shoot because we are producing during the course of their business day. We sometimes want his (Joe Ferrer€™s) attention to a scene or something we need to capture, but he€™s more interested in getting a muffler out to his client – which is what he does.€
