Given the news today this will be a special Thursday Throwback of Donna Summer. LaDonna Adrian Gaines (December 31, 1948 €“ May 17, 2012), known by the stage name Donna Summer, was an American singer/songwriter who gained prominence during the disco era of the 1970s. She had a mezzo-soprano vocal range, and was a five-time Grammy Award winner. Summer was the first artist to have three consecutive double albums reach number one on the U.S. Billboard chart, and she also charted four number-one singles in the United States within a 13-month period.

Summer died on May 17, 2012. The Associated Press reports that she died in the morning at her home in Key West, Florida at age 63 following a battle with cancer.  The Bradenton Herald quotes “Sarasota County records” stating that she lived in Englewood, Florida at the time of her death. The reference did not state the place of her death.

Don€™t Mess With This Missionary Woman!!  The Eurythmics song€™s music video for the song ‘Missionary Man‘ was another in a long line of innovative clips from Eurythmics. It received heavy play from MTV back when they actually played music videos and featured stop-animation techniques similar to those used in Peter Gabriel€™s groundbreaking €œSledgehammer€ clip. Another prominent feature of the video was the removal of several key frames of film, which produced a jerky, robotic effect.  €œMissionary Man€ earned the duo a US Grammy award for €œBest Rock Vocal Performance €“ Group€.

Very few songs on the planet have ability to make normal, non stripper type women want to get up on bars and stages, and gyrate obscenely while removing articles of their clothing. AC/DC You Shook Me All Night Long has that ability!

Every time I hear this song I can’t help but think of running around Tijuana with my sister’s best friend who we started calling Shooter because of doing a legendary 30 shots in a row and off to dancing. 30 shots is the legend, it was more like 7.
